In 1999, the Filipinas Heritage Library (FHL) partnered with the Ateneo de Manila University and the De La Salle University to launch LibraryLink, a one-stop, online resource portal to the Filipiniana collections of member libraries from all over the Philippines. Through this union catalog, holdings from the different member libraries were made available online to researchers locally and abroad, making it much more convenient to look for books and other Filipiniana research materials.
Nine years later, LibraryLink has grown into a group of over 90 member libraries which houses the Filipiniana collections of various Philippine schools, colleges, universities and other academic institutions. Through its online forum, LibraryLink has also become a hub for interaction among library and information professionals in the country.
In order to chart the successes and recent challenges of Philippine libraries, as well as to plan future goals for LibraryLink, the first LibraryLink Conference: Connect to Evolve!, will be held on August 21-23, 2008 at the Reading Room of the FHL.
The registration fee is PhP 3,000.00, inclusive of meals and snacks, certificate, and conference kit. Participants from LibraryLink member institutions OR early bird registrants on or before August 8, 2008 can avail of a discounted rate of PhP 2,500.00. For inquiries, please feel free to call us at 892-1801 loc. 15 or email liblink@filipinaslibrary.org.ph. A copy of the invitation and brochure may be downloaded from www.librarylink.org.ph.
